When you hire a video production company in Dublin, expect a planning call first, then a script, a shoot of a half day or more, and an edit with review rounds before delivery. Most projects take a few weeks from first call to finished film. A typical 2 to 3 minute film from one shoot day costs about €4,350–€5,200 ex VAT.

What does a Dublin video production company make?

Most business video falls into a handful of types. Knowing which one you need makes the rest of the conversation easier.

  • Corporate videos. Company overviews, case studies, recruitment films, training and internal communications. See our corporate video page.
  • Brand films and adverts. Films about what a company stands for, and adverts for TV, web and social. See brand films and advertising.
  • Testimonials. Customers explaining in their own words what you did for them. Our guide to video testimonials covers how to film them.
  • Event videos and livestreams. Highlight films of conferences, launches and awards nights, or the whole event streamed live. See event video production.
  • Animation and explainers. For products and ideas that are hard to film. See animation and explainers.
  • Social cut-downs. Short vertical versions of a longer film for LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok.

What does the video production process look like?

Most projects follow the same four stages.

1. Discovery

A first call to understand what the video is for, who will watch it, the key messages and where it will be shown. At Mango, this is a free 30-minute discovery call with our team.

2. Pre-production

The concept and script are written and approved, then the shoot is planned: locations, interviewees, schedule and shot list. Concept, script and captions are included in every Mango project.

3. Production

The shoot. Depending on the project, that can mean interviews, b-roll of your people and premises, product shots, event coverage or drone footage.

4. Post-production

The edit, colour grade, sound mix, music, titles and captions. You review cuts and give feedback in agreed rounds, then the final files are delivered in the formats you need. Our post on the video production process goes through each stage in detail.

How long does video production take?

It depends on the scope, the number of people who need to approve the script and edits, and your deadline. A simple interview-led film moves much faster than a multi-day campaign with several edits and sign-offs. The biggest factors are how soon a shoot date can be set and how quickly feedback comes back.

If you have a fixed date, such as a launch, an event or a board meeting, say so on the first call. Faster turnarounds are often possible, though a rush edit can add to the cost. Our guide to how long a corporate video takes breaks the stages down.

How much does video production cost in Dublin?

A typical 2 to 3 minute film from one full shoot day in Dublin costs about €4,350–€5,200 ex VAT, with concept, script support and captions included. Typical prices for common projects:

Typical projectTypical price (ex VAT)
Short interview or testimonial film (1 to 2 minutes, half-day shoot)from about €3,150
Corporate or brand film (2 to 3 minutes, one full shoot day)about €4,350–€5,200
The same film with extras (sound design, motion graphics, drone, stills, social resizes)about €5,750–€6,900

Multi-day campaignwell beyond €10,000

All prices exclude VAT (23%). Most of our projects land between €3,000 and €8,000. Social cut-downs from the same shoot add about €150–€250 each, and drone footage about €250 per shoot day where the location suits it.

The factors that move the price are:

  • the number of shoot days
  • crew size
  • locations and travel
  • editing time
  • the number of versions and cut-downs
  • motion graphics or animation
  • drone footage
  • voiceover
  • a rush turnaround, which adds about 50% to the editing part of the price

At Mango you get one fixed price in writing, plus VAT, before anything starts, and any changes are agreed in writing first. These are typical figures, not quotes. For more detail, read our corporate video cost guide, or get an estimate in a few minutes from the instant quote calculator.

Do you need a permit to film in Dublin?

Filming on private property, such as your own office, doesn't need permission from the council. Filming in public spaces or on council-owned property in Dublin city needs a permit from Dublin City Council, according to the Dublin City Film Office. Applications need a risk assessment and public liability insurance, and lead times range from a few working days for a small commercial shoot to several weeks for road closures, as set out in the Film Office's timeline checklist.

Drone filming needs separate permissions. Our guide to drone video in Ireland explains the rules.

How do you choose a video production company in Dublin?

Look beyond the price. The things that matter most are:

  • Relevant work. Examples close to your type of project and sector.
  • Interest in your goals. A good team asks about your audience and what you want people to do before talking about cameras.
  • A clear process. Who will be on the shoot, how many review rounds you get and how changes are handled.
  • Independent reviews. Check Google and Clutch, not only the testimonials on the company's own site.
  • A fixed price in writing. So you know the total before you commit.

For a fuller checklist, read our guide to choosing a video production company in Ireland.

What mistakes should you avoid?

  • Choosing on price alone. A cheaper quote usually means less time somewhere: planning, shooting or editing.
  • Starting without a clear goal. A film that tries to speak to everyone ends up speaking to no one.
  • Rushing the planning. Problems that aren't solved before the shoot are more expensive to fix in the edit.
  • Forgetting distribution. Decide where the video will live and how people will find it before you film, so you get the right versions.

Does the production company need to be in Dublin?

Not necessarily. A Dublin-based team saves on travel for Dublin shoots, but experience with your kind of project matters more than an address. We're based at DCU Innovate in Glasnevin, Dublin 11, and film all over Ireland, with travel built into the quote up front.
