What do we film with a drone?

We film property and hotels, events, construction sites, tourism and heritage sites, and company buildings from the air. Most of our drone work is part of a wider corporate, brand or event film, where a few aerial shots show the scale of a place. We only fly where the site is legal and safe, and we check that before we quote.

Shoot days
Drone footage is about €250 for each shoot day we fly. Two days on site with the drone is about €500.
The site
Outdoors and legal to fly. Near airports, crowds or busy streets, a shot may need permission in advance.
The film around it
Most drone shots sit inside a corporate, brand or event film, and that film sets most of the price.
Location
Travel from Dublin is built into your quote. Outside Dublin, an overnight adds €250–€350.
Weather
Wind and rain ground drones. Moving a shoot is free with at least 24 hours’ notice.
Cut-downs
Short versions for social are priced per cut, about €150–€250 each, from the same footage.

On the day

We fly where it’s legal and safe, in the light the shot needs, alongside the crew on the ground.

Checks first

We check the site on the IAA’s zone map, agree it with the landowner or venue, and plan where to take off.

Wide and high

Reveals, slow pushes and top-down shots of a site, a building or a landscape, from our DJI Mavic 3 Pro.

Close and moving

Closer, flowing moves around a building or along a route, from our DJI Avata FPV, where it’s safe to fly.

After the shoot

The aerial shots are cut into your film and reviewed on Vimeo, and you can keep the clips.

  • Your film

The aerial shots cut into your film, with music, colour and titles.

  • Vimeo review

Comments at the exact second you want changed, each round.

Drone filming, explained

By checking every site before we quote, and flying only where the rules allow. Drones in Ireland fly under EU rules enforced by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA). A drone has to stay in the pilot’s sight, below 120 metres, away from crowds and out of restricted zones unless the right permission is in place.

So before we quote, we check your address on the IAA’s zone map and ask the landowner or venue for permission to take off. Large parts of Dublin sit near Dublin Airport and Casement Aerodrome, and flying near airports, over crowds or in busy streets needs permission in advance, which can take a while. Heritage sites, parks and beaches can have their own rules too.

At events we film from the side, never over the crowd. If a site can’t be flown, we tell you before the shoot. At the Macnas Halloween parade we filmed with a press pass and no drone, as the crowd rules required.

Scale and place: the things that are hard to show from the ground. A few aerial shots set the scene, and too many look like stock footage, so we use them where they earn their place.

  • Property and hotels: the house and the Wicklow hills at Powerscourt, or the Grand Hotel in Malahide for IDEA
  • Tourism and heritage: the Blasket Centre, the Swiss Cottage in Cahir and Ennis Friary for the OPW
  • Events: CHQ and the docklands for Northwood’s summit, or the full line of Dublin’s Pedalpalooza parade
  • Construction and sites: the layout of a site from above, like Tirlán’s car park for Ronspot or the approaches at Dublin Airport
  • Company buildings and places: OPW’s Tom Johnson House, or Dún Laoghaire and Sandyford for Smart Dún Laoghaire

Most of these shots sit inside a wider film, with interviews and footage from the ground.

Two of our own. The DJI Mavic 3 Pro is our main camera drone: steady wide shots, slow reveals and top-down views of a site, a building or a landscape. The DJI Avata is a small FPV drone, flown with goggles, for closer and faster moves around a building or along a route, where it’s safe to fly.

The drone is one part of the shoot. On the same day our crew films on the ground with Blackmagic cinema cameras, Fujifilm X-H2S bodies, gimbals, lights and wireless sound, so the aerial shots and the interviews match in the edit. Which drone comes out, and when, depends on the site, the light and the wind on the day. We plan it on the call, and if the weather turns we move the shoot: that’s free with at least 24 hours’ notice.

With us, drone footage adds about €250 for each shoot day we fly, on top of the film or the crew day it’s part of. It’s for outdoor sites that are legal to fly, and we check that before we quote.

A corporate or brand film from one full shoot day, two to three minutes long, is typically €4,350–€5,200, so the same film with drone shots is about €4,600–€5,450. Event videos start from €3,650. If you only need the filming and will edit it yourself, crew hire starts from €1,750 for half a day. Outside Dublin, travel is built into your quote and an overnight adds roughly €250–€350. Whatever you choose goes into one fixed price in writing before the shoot, and every price on this page is plus VAT.

Drone filming questions

Can’t see yours? Ask us directly.

No. The rules don’t allow it, so we film events from the side, or leave the drone out when the site won’t allow it.

Sometimes. Much of Dublin is near Dublin Airport or Casement Aerodrome, so we check the exact spot first. Some shots need permission in advance.

Wind and rain ground drones. Moving a shoot is free with at least 24 hours’ notice, so we watch the forecast with you.

Yes. We can send the aerial clips as separate files alongside your film, as we did for the OPW and Ronald McDonald House.

Yes, on film shoots where it’s legal and safe to fly, as an add-on to the drone footage.
