Dún Laoghaire as a living lab, for Smart Dún Laoghaire

Smart Dún Laoghaire is Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s programme for testing new technology in the town, from sensors that track coastal erosion to air and bathing-water monitoring. We made its launch film in 2022, and in 2025 it came back for a film that would explain the programme for years to come. We filmed over two days in February and March 2025.

What Smart Dún Laoghaire needed, and what we made

When
January to August 2025
Where
Dún Laoghaire, Trinity College and Sandyford
Films
A 3:32 film and two social cuts

What they needed

A film to raise awareness of the programme and show what it does, for council management and the public, with nothing in it that would date quickly.

What we filmed

Two days: the project’s general assembly at County Hall, then interviews and projects at Trinity College, in Sandyford and at council offices. The council, its research partners and local business speak about the work, with drone shots of Dún Laoghaire and Sandyford and on-screen graphics in the style of the 2022 film.

What we delivered

  • Two shoot days
  • A refined script
  • A 3:32 programme film
  • Motion graphics
  • A horizontal social cut
  • A vertical social cut

Two shoot days, a refined script, a 3:32 programme film, motion graphics, a horizontal social cut, a vertical social cut.

“The video made our launch event work very well, and it’s gotten a lot of positive feedback on social media.”
